Professors:  Revs. Rebecca Brimmer and Cheryl Hauer with BFP Staff and selected presenters.

 

Course Purpose: Understanding the current situation in Israel and connecting the modern state to the Israel of the Bible are made possible through this intense practicum by exposure to all levels of Israeli society. Students will gain an understanding of the connections between Israel and the church, as well as the complexities of modern interfaith relations.

 

The Book of Romans 

ROM-1500-LS [3 credits]
June 9-10, 2018

 

Professors:  Dr. Lennie Allen, and Dr. Jim Solberg

 

Course Purpose:
To lead the student to analyze carefully the theological themes of the book of Romans; to relate those teachings to the Pauline corpus and the overall context of Scripture; to examine the teachings of the book in light of the student’s own theological constructs.
 

Course Objectives:  
1. To introduce the purpose, structure and contents of the book of Romans so that the student can identify key themes and describe the relationship between those themes and the purpose of the book. 

2. To lead the student to interpret key passages and to distinguish between alternative interpretations. 

3. To enable the student to explain the teachings of the book of Romans and to relate these to her/his own theological commitment. 

4. To provide the student an opportunity to employ the key teachings of the book of Romans in authentic ministry settings.

 

THIS IS A UNIQUE ADVANCED ACCELERATED SEMINAR. ALL SEMINAR REQUIREMENTS ARE MET AFTER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE SECOND DAY. NO POST SEMINAR ASSIGNMENTS REQUIRED.  The course will be accomplished in an intensive two-day seminar only. Pre-seminar assignments are required, but there are no post-seminar requirements. All course requirements are completed at close of the seminar event. The following schedule includes intensive instruction times with the professor, group interaction, and written assignments scheduled throughout the event.
