short.cut / noun - a shorter alternative route;
an accelerated way of doing or achieving something.

COMPARING TWO METHODS OF MINISTRY EDUCATION

INDEPENDENT SELF STUDY & ONLINE DIRECTED STUDY

INDEPENDENT SELF STUDY - Studying Bible and ministry related subjects of personal interest without any academic supervision.

The Pluses:

  • Freedom of time, subject selection, and amount of study.
  • Develops personal discipline if done with consistency.
  • Little cost except books, study software and subscriptions.
  • Self-satisfaction and starting or stopping as may be convenient.

The Minuses:

  • Guesswork concerning the reliability of study resources.
  • Subject understanding can be like navigating a complex maze.
  • Extended length of time required to master a subject.
  • Easy to become distracted, and no official proof of learning.

ONLINE DIRECTED STUDY - Studying Bible and ministry related subjects of personal interest with academic supervision.

The Pluses:

  • Coursework directs the student to reliable study resources.
  • Subject understanding is improved through quality curriculum.
  • Shortened length of time required to master a subject.
  • Strong incentive to finish, and official proof of learning.

The Minuses:

  • Predetermined subjects, and required amount of study.
  • Requires personal discipline and structured investment of time.
  • There is tuition, also fees and books to buy, so it's not free.
  • You must actually complete your studies to graduate.

SO WHAT IS THE BEST MINISTRY EDUCATION SHORTCUT?
short.cut / noun - a shorter alternative route;
an accelerated way of doing or achieving something.

If you want to take the most direct route, at the least cost for the greatest amount of good in the shortest time the answer is - Online Directed Study.

Why?  Because...

  • Coursework beats guesswork.
  • Learning from the learned saves precious time and effort.
  • Even though online directed study allows you to study at home, being held accountable beats little or no accountability.
  • Mastering a subject is much easier with quality curriculum.
  • Subjects that might take years to learn through self study can be understood in a matter of months.
  • Having your learning validated by a competent faculty gives you the confidence of knowing that others respect your learning.
  • Your certificate or degree is more than a piece of paper, it is a credential that documents and validates your ministry education accomplishments.
  • No, it's not free, but all things in life worth doing cost something.

These are only a few of the reasons why the best ministry education shortcut is the directed study method, and why the price you will pay for a quality ministry education at Master's is a capstone investment!

There is Nothing Wrong With Independent Self Study!

In fact, it is essential to becoming a life-long learner.

We only mean to point out that online directed study is the best ministry education shortcut because it is the only method by which the greatest amount of learning can be acquired in the shortest possible time.  By learning under the direction of competent scholars, one is able to take the most direct route to Biblical education and ministry competency.

This Concept of the Best Ministry Education Shortcut is Biblical.

Jesus trained His disciples in an intense three-year directed study program, and then commissioned them to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Apostle Paul took his directed study program from one of the most learned scholars of his day.  He said, “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel, strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today" (Acts 22:3).

Apollos was a highly educated man, but he was in need of continuing and advanced ministry training.  In the Acts of the Apostles Luke records: "Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately" (Acts 18:24-26).

It is the plan of the Master for His disciples to become competent Biblical scholars and ministers of the Gospel, and then to pass their knowledge to others in a directed study method of teaching.  That's why Paul instructed his student Timothy to keep that method of ministry education alive.

"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also"  (II Timothy 2:2).
